The new Jones Steel Diamond Plus SWB with Unicrown Fork frameset brings the benefits of 27.5" Plus tires to the proven Jones 29 geometry to create a new kind of Jones Plus!  This is the first major revision to the original Jones 29 frame geometry since 2009, and it combines aspects of the Jones Plus LWB and the original Jones 29 to make a short wheelbase bike with clearance for larger tires, new hub spacing, more bosses, and slight geometry tweaks.  The result is a bike that maintains the agility for which the Jones 29 is known, while adding some stability, and more wheel options!  Initially only available in the Medium (23" ETT) size (equivalent to the Medium (24" ETT) size in the Plus LWB).  If you need a large, please put your email address in the "notify me" box after choosing the option you would like!  This will help us prioritize the next models to work on.

To see the breakdown of the differences between the Jones 29 and the Jones Plus SWB, check out the chart here!

This is a frame, fork, Jones EBB (bottom bracket), front and rear TA bolts, water bottle bolts, clips, and standard derailleur hanger.  If you would like a single speed or Shimano Direct Mount hanger, get them here!

The first two Jones Plus SWB bikes are built, and we have photos!

Sizing information:

• Rider height between 5' and 5'8" would fit the Small (22") Jones Spaceframe Plus SWB 148 well.

• Rider height between 5'2" and 6'2" would fit the Medium (23") Jones Spaceframe SWB 148 well.

• Rider height between 5'7" and 6'2" would fit the Medium (23") Jones Diamond Plus SWB 148 well.  Standover is approximately 31.5".

• Rider height between 6' and 6'6" would fit the Large (24") Jones Spaceframe SWB or Diamond Plus SWB 148 well.

Geometry details:

All sizes of the Jones Plus SWB share the a 69° head tube angle, and a 72° effective seat tube angle.  The chainstays are 449mm (17.68") long.  The effective top tube lengths vary with each size, but be sure to note that because the seat tube angle is steeper than on the Jones Plus LWB, a medium Plus SWB will have an ETT that is an inch shorter than the same size in the Plus LWB.  The difference in seat tube angle is also why Jeff recommends a setback seatpost on the Plus SWB, and a zero-offfset on the Plus LWB.

Feel free to contact us if you have questions about sizing!

EBB versatility
The eccentric bottom bracket (EBB) allows you to adjust chain tension for single speeds and gear hubs, or to change your bottom bracket height to suit your preference for differing terrain or wheel sizes. More information in this blog post.

Tire clearance
The Jones Plus SWB has enough is designed to be used with either 27.5 x 3" or 29 x 2.3-2.6" tires.  It has lots of clearance with these tires.  If you live in a place where clearance isn't much of an issue (a dry environment, for instance), and want to run something larger, in the rear, we have found that smaller 29x2.8-3" tires will actually fit with reasonable clearance—but much less than we'd like for even slightly muddy conditions.  Before riding any tire over 29 x 2.6" in the rear, make sure it has enough clearance for the conditions in which you ride and remember that a loose hub or wheel that is out of true can take up extra clearance quickly!
