Jeff hears from a lot of riders who need to get their bars higher, and while his framesets make that easy, many riders are installing H-Bars on other brands of bikes with a normal, lower stack height in order to get more comfort and control.  For them, and everyone else who wants to get their bars higher, we have the new SG 2.5 Aluminum Loop H-Bar!  Think of the 2.5 as an alternative to a 2" stack of headset spacers combined with a standard H-Bar, which has .5" of rise.

Also a great bar on a Jones Bike for the rider who wants maximum handlebar height!

This H-Bar is essentially an SG Loop H-Bar with 2.5" of rise compared to the standard .5" of rise on all of the other H-Bars.  Do you have a bike with a short head tube?  Your back and neck want this bar!  Are you wondering if it's safe to install a steerer tube extender on a steerer tube extender?  Get this H-Bar and you won't need to find out!

The SG 2.5 Loop H-Bar shares the same comfortable 45 degree sweep, black or silver colors options, 660mm or 710mm widths, 31.8mm clamp diameter, and standard 22.2mm grip area diameter for flat bar/mountain bike controls with the rest of the Aluminum H-Bars.  The main differences that you'll notice when riding the SG 2.5 vs the standard SG Aluminum Loop H-Bar is that the 2.5 is 2 inches higher—which makes it ideal for bikes with front ends that are too low—and that the rear crossbar swoops down to the stem, rather than curving mostly back as on the rest of the H-Bars.  We hope that this newest H-Bar will help more riders get more comfortable on their bikes!

We get a lot of questions about whether this H-Bar will work with our Loophole H-Bar Pack, and the answer is yes!  The pack fits less tightly, and will be tilted on this H-Bar, but from our experience, it works just fine.

The SG 2.5 Aluminum Loop H-Bar weighs approximately 25 grams more than the SG Aluminum Loop H-Bar, so it's actually a very light-weight way to get a much higher stack—especially when compared to a steerer tube extender or even a longer steerer tube and extra spacers.

660mm 2.5 SG Aluminum Loop H-Bar: 635 grams

710 2.5 SG Aluminum Loop H-Bar: 650 grams

The SG 2.5 Aluminum Loop H-Bars pass the same stringent EN Mountain Bike Standards as all of our other H-Bars.

All Jones H-Bars use a 31.8mm stem clamp diameter, 22.2mm clamp size for controls (standard mountain bike style).  The entire front loop has a 22.2mm diameter.

The Loop H-Bar has the same hand, stem and brake lever position as the original H-Bar but the cross bar sweeps forward to allow the levers to go behind the cross bar instead of in front. This gives longer uninterrupted hand positions and will allow trigger and grip/twist shifters to fit on the rearward extensions (unlike the original H-Bar and the Cut H-Bar). The continuous front loop of the bar enhances stiffness and is good for additional aero hand positions and mounting lights, GPS devices etc. This bar provides comfort and power with an impressive weight. With the levers in the optimum position the rider is superbly placed for fast riding while still enjoying all the hand positions available. The rearward extensions allow extra leverage and a wider hand position - be it for comfort or power. All H-bars are for a 31.8 stem.

Refer to the H-Bar Manual for set-up tips!

We highly recommend checking out our selection of longer grips and bar tape specifically designed for the 710mm and 660mm H-Bars.  Using longer grips is KEY to getting the full range of positions, and therefore comfort, that the H-Bars are capable of delivering!

Great for; Singlespeeds, 29ers, Fat Bikes, Touring, Bike-packing Adventures, City Riding and more!
Compatible with; Singlespeeds, Trigger shifters, Gripshift, Shimano twist shifters, Rohloff and above the bar hinged thumb-shifters.

I thought I'd give the Jones H-Bar a try and assumed they'd take a while to get used to. The only thing to get used to is the amount of positions available to me. The H-Bar was immediately comfortable and there is a comfortable grip position for every riding scenario. Wish I'd found them sooner.

This bar is great! Really helped with relieve pressure off my back, is much more comfortable than the stock bars on my Specialized Enduro, and it gives me more control and options. A big improvement.

    Neck/Back saver!

Posted by Unknown on 3rd Apr 2018

I had debilitating neck/back/shoulder issues with my previous bars (butterfly trekking bars), until I switched to the 2.5 loop H-bar. Immediate relief and added enjoyment. I made the mistake of buying the original loop bar with less rise, and came to realize the 2.5 is essential for any shorter head tube lengths (i.e. older mtb-commuter type bikes. I have a 90's Spez Hard Rock). The staff was more than helpful and informative, and I will recommend this bar to anybody riding a mtb style frame as a commuter/shredder. Thank you Jeff Jones!

    Miracle bars!

I'd rate the Jones SG 2.5 Aluminum Loop H-Bars 20 stars if I could :) love, Love, LOVE these bars!!! SO many hand positions, SO comfortable! Feels natural and stable after a couple hundred miles.

As I thought about handlebar upgrade options for gravel grinding and bikepacking, the Jones just felt they would work great. I bought the bars without test riding another bike. It was a risk, but was the best decision! The one caveat: due to change of shifter/brake controller location, I needed longer hydraulic brake and shift cables on my Trek Superfly 7. But my LBS mechanic re-cabled without issue. All in all, a worthy investment & upgrade!!

I installed Jones Kraton H-Grips and then taped the bar loops using 2 different colors (orange and black to match my paint job). So in additional to being comfortable, the bars look really cool!

    Loop H bar

I just couldn't get a comfortable hand/arm position on my current bike after trying several stems and various other adjustments. I was ready to sell the bike. I tried the Jones bar and instantly all my wrist numbness was resolved. Couldn't be more pleased with the product.

    Raised H bar

Rode the first time 8 miles today with these bars on a Cannondale MB. Great improvement in this bike. I really like the standup position. It seems like the pedal power is improved. Also, I have wrist issues and that seems like they may alleviate that too.
