The new Jones Kraton H-Grips are durable, inexpensive, easy-to-install, and are made especially to fit the two widths of Jones H-bars!

  • The synthetic rubber is very durable.
  • Deep H-Bar patterning gives you a solid grip.
  • 34mm diameter.
  • Jones H-Grip expanding plugs included.

Available in two colors, which have have different levels of firmness:

  • Black feels like a standard comfortable grip.
  • Clear is our soft compound for those who want maximum squish!

Both levels of firmness are available in lengths to fit each of the two widths of H-Bars perfectly.  The H-Grips for 710mm H-Bars are 205mm long, and the H-Grips for 660mm H-Bars are 165mm long.  The grips can be used, and will work fine with the bar plugs that come in the H-Bars, but we wanted to include larger, more protective bar plugs with our grips, so that your grips won't get torn up as easily, and that's what these grips come with.

Jeff also made sure the details are just so: the ends of the grips are beveled to meet the angle of the bar plug, so that the plug can protect the end of the grip better, which is really important when you're laying the bike down on its side.  The bar plugs themselves have a captured nut in the wedge so that when you loosen the bolt to remove the grips, the nut stays in place and the plug comes right out!  And now both the nut and the bolt that threads into it are stainless steel to resist rust!

Approximate weights for 205mm grips for 710mm H-Bars, including plugs:

  • Black Kraton: 10 oz
  • Clear Kraton: 9 oz

To sum up how to make sure you get the H-Grip of your dreams: if you want super soft grips, get the clear ones!  If you want standard grips, get the black ones!  Then just choose the width of you H-Bar with the color/firmness you've chosen!

Grips are sold as pairs.

Installation Instructions: Remove old bar plugs before installation…

1. Kraton rubber: clean handlebar first using alcohol.  Blow grips on using an air compressor, or use alcohol or hand sanitizer as a lubricant to help slide them on (make sure to let them sit for 24 hours if using a lubricant to give it time to evaporate).

2. Insert the expanding bar plugs fully into the end of the bar and tighten to supplied stainless steel bolts using a #2 Phillips screwdriver until the plugs stay in place when you try to move them.

Get the grips installed by a qualified mechanic if you don’t feel comfortable doing it yourself.

!WARNING: Always ride your bike with appropriate bar plugs installed.  In the event of a crash, an open handlebar can result in serious injury.  Before every ride always try twisting the grips to make sure they are tight.  Do not ride your bike if the grips are loose because doing so can result in serious injury or even death.

    EVA foam grips

Posted by Stewart on 6th Aug 2018

Grips were easy to replace existing grips with a little help of an air compressor. A little puff of air at about 75psi into the end of the grip and it slid on with a few puffs. Comfortable grip.

Big bar+ big meats = big grips

I got the black ones, nice bit of cush under my palms. My radial/median nerve still whines, but it takes longer. Riding without gloves is now an option. I installed the grips with rubbing alcohol, but several days later, grips still rotate when twisted - albeit with persuasive force on my part. If I was doing it again, I'd use hairspray or spray adhesive for some permanent tack. Like everything Jones, great product

    Handlebar Grip Testing

Posted by Cody on 7th Jul 2018

I purchased The Jones Gnarwal aero attachment, Kraton H Grips and EVA H Grips all at the same time to test multiple setup options in preparation for doing a triathlon on a fatbike, and for taking that same fatbike to troll around New Zealand with for a month. Other than those two extraneous purposes I primarily use my bike as a commuter for work, weekend shenanigans, and the occasional bikepacking trip. After testing all the varying setup options (H Bar with Kraton grips vs EVA grips, Gnarwal with Kraton grips vs EVA grips) I concluded the following: I prefer the Jones Kraton H-Grips on the handle bars because of their tackier feel which helps my hands feel more secure while riding in a more upright position. If there is a need for me to be in an upright position such as navigating rougher terrain I would rather have the grips that offer the most traction between hand, grip, and bar. To contrast I prefer the softer, more "luxurious" feel of the the EVA H Grips with the Gnarwal attachment for riding in the aero position. I gave these Kraton grips 5 stars because I have spent more money on other grips that have had hundreds of miles put on them only to end up favoring this $20 pair for almost all applications.
Protip: an air compressor with a nozzle attachment will make putting on and taking off these grips a much more pleasurable experience.

This was my first purchase from Jones directly. I needed grips for my new-to-me Jones bar for my old MTB. The grips are exactly what I expected and as described. They are well made, and seem soft enough to take the sting out of things without being "gooey" soft. I haven't had a chance to ride with them much, so I am reserving that last star for a post long ride critique. Service and shipping was excellent. Glad to add some Jones to my biking fun.

    Great grips!

Posted by Chris on 26th Jun 2018

I purchased the clear "soft" version in 210mm and with alcohol, they slid right on my H-Bar with no effort. I did have to wait about 18 hours for the alcohol to evaporate but I'll take that over the struggle I had with other grips, using the same method. The grips are large in diameter, which suits my big mitts very well, and they are on the softer side while still providing a firm grip. A quality product!

These are nice grips and give several positions for the hands. It would be nice to have palm swells available for the bar.
