Jeff hears from a lot of riders who need to get their bars higher, and while his framesets make that easy, many riders are installing H-Bars on other brands of bikes with a normal, lower stack height in order to get more comfort and control.  For them, and everyone else who wants to get their bars higher, we have the new SG 2.5 Aluminum Loop H-Bar!  Think of the 2.5 as an alternative to a 2" stack of headset spacers combined with a standard H-Bar, which has .5" of rise.  

Also a great bar on a Jones Bike for the rider who wants maximum handlebar height!

This H-Bar is essentially an SG Loop H-Bar with 2.5" of rise compared to the standard .5" of rise on all of the other H-Bars.  Do you have a bike with a short head tube?  Your back and neck want this bar!  Are you wondering if it's safe to install a steerer tube extender on a steerer tube extender?  Get this H-Bar and you won't need to find out!

The SG 2.5 Loop H-Bar shares the same comfortable 45 degree sweep, black or silver colors options, 660mm or 710mm widths, 31.8mm clamp diameter, and standard 22.2mm grip area diameter for flat bar/mountain bike controls with the rest of the Aluminum H-Bars.  The main differences that you'll notice when riding the SG 2.5 vs the standard SG Aluminum Loop H-Bar is that the 2.5 is 2 inches higher—which makes it ideal for bikes with front ends that are too low—and that the rear crossbar swoops down to the stem, rather than curving mostly back as on the rest of the H-Bars.  We hope that this newest H-Bar will help more riders get more comfortable on their bikes!

We get a lot of questions about whether this H-Bar will work with our Loophole H-Bar Pack, and the answer is yes!  The pack fits less tightly, and will be tilted on this H-Bar, but from our experience, it works just fine.

The SG 2.5 Aluminum Loop H-Bar weighs approximately 25 grams more than the SG Aluminum Loop H-Bar, so it's actually a very light-weight way to get a much higher stack—especially when compared to a steerer tube extender or even a longer steerer tube and extra spacers.

Testing

The SG 2.5 Aluminum Loop H-Bars pass the same stringent EN Mountain Bike Standards as all of our other H-Bars.

All Jones H-Bars use a 31.8mm stem clamp diameter, 22.2mm clamp size for controls (standard mountain bike style).  The entire front loop has a 22.2mm diameter.

The Loop H-Bar has the same hand, stem and brake lever position as the original H-Bar but the cross bar sweeps forward to allow the levers to go behind the cross bar instead of in front. This gives longer uninterrupted hand positions and will allow trigger and grip/twist shifters to fit on the rearward extensions (unlike the original H-Bar and the Cut H-Bar). The continuous front loop of the bar enhances stiffness and is good for additional aero hand positions and mounting lights, GPS devices etc. This bar provides comfort and power with an impressive weight. With the levers in the optimum position the rider is superbly placed for fast riding while still enjoying all the hand positions available. The rearward extensions allow extra leverage and a wider hand position - be it for comfort or power. All H-bars are for a 31.8 stem.

    The finish is going to scuff when you slide the leavers on. More than likely you will have to get new longer cables. Don't buy it on the hope you won't have to. You will.
    But the bar itself seem very well made. I can't wait to get my cables longer so I can give it a true ride.- well made. The finish scuffs up - so you can't return it -after you tried to get it on just to see if you like it. It gets a 4 because it is the only one of its kind - the finish - and having to get new cables made me want to give it a 3. The craftsmanship made me want to give it a 5+

    These bars will put you up high, and give you the ever sought after multiple hand positions that you may have already come to love. Having ridden the standard Loop H Bar on my HT 9er and having excellent results I bought 2 of these in hopes the would work for my workhorses. After suffering a shoulder injury that took me out of the drops I have tried all sorts of botched hack jobs to get high and wide, mustaches, cruisers, Wood chippers, you name it with okay but not perfect results. These bars delivered a plenty high contact with the bike that isn’t floppy, awkwardly soft, or incapable of technical sections. The pugsley and the big dummy got face lifts and are as stiff and responsive now in all the right places. Not to mention the order form came with some handwritten box pen saying “Thanks!” How can you not be impressed with that in a world of am^z•n robots spitting out barcodes and boxes at the speed of light. I would give these bars 10 stars if that were an option.

    This was just what I needed to deal with some wrist and thumb pain I was having during and after riding. I find a real relief being able to have my hands in a more natural position, one I was familiar with when I rode motorcycles, one that is comfort

    I found the illustration on a card included in the packaging had more helpful information than I had seen elsewhere, including the card attached to the handlebar, and even in the description on the website. That was the illustration of different lengths useful for different types of rides. Though I do mostly cross country riding, I ordered the longer bars and will keep them long unless I find that they create a problem when I ride very close to trees on the trails I ride.

    Love my new handlebars they make my fat bike so much more comfortable .Will definitely be using it more and in more varied conditions. From the icy right coast of Canada big thank you to Jones.

    This is my third set of Jones H bars. The first set, a 680 aluminum loop H bar, I rode probably 15000 miles, but always needed a steep angled stem. When this came out, I jumped on board, and haven't looked back. The extra width helps, and the height is great and lets me use a normal stem. I got the long grips to go with it and its fantastic for commuting and mountain biking. Looking forward to another 15000 miles on these.

    These bars breathed life back into my old cross country singlespeed. With its low head tube and short steer tube, it just wasn’t fun to ride anymore. I always wanted to put a Loop H-Bar on it, but it would have been too low. The rise on these bars is perfect.

    Very happy with this purchase. Added these to my mountain/winter bike and find them very comfortable with multi hand positions for less fatigue on long rides.
