The 2.5 Loop H-Bar has a 2.5-inch rise compared to the standard 0.5-inch rise on our other H-Bars. Think of the 2.5 H-Bar as an alternative to using a 0.5 H-Bar with a 2-inch stack of headset spacers under the stem. Many riders who don’t own a Jones Bike are installing 2.5 H-Bars on other bicycle brands that have a lower stack height and a lower intended bar position. The 2.5 Loop H-Bar was designed with them in mind, along with anyone else looking to get their bars as high as possible.

Since 2002, the Jones H-Bars have redefined comfort and control with an innovative, ergonomic design that was meticulously crafted and tested in the rugged yet beautiful landscapes of southern Oregon.

While these handlebars may look unconventional, they deliver superior handling and unmatched comfort compared to traditional bars. A wide range of hand and body positions supports increased power, comfort, and control, while the signature 45-degree sweep keeps your wrists in a natural, relaxed position for lasting ease on long rides.

This makes the Jones H-Bars the ultimate upgrade for a diverse range of bikes, including bikepacking, touring, mountain, road, gravel, commuting, city, and electric bikes.

The 22.2mm front loop of the Loop H-Bar offers several hand positions and mounting locations for essentials like bike computers, lights, GPS devices, sports action cameras and the Jones Gnarwal. With a long grip area and paired with Jones H-Grips, riders can comfortably switch between an upright stance at the grips’ ends to a tucked aero position using the crossbar and front loop. These varied options provide unique hand placements, giving extra leverage and a wider grip for both comfort and power.

The Jones Loop H-Bar also serves as an excellent replacement for drop bars, offering more hand positions, comfort, and control while allowing additional mounting options for bags, lights, and other accessories.

Jones 2.5 Loop H-Bar material / color options:

SG Aluminum / Black or Silver

The SG Aluminum Loop H-Bar uses the same great design as our Butted Aluminum Loop H-Bar and is available at a lower price by using straight-gauge aluminum tubing in place of the custom-butted tubing on the Butted Loop H-Bar. This H-Bar is just as strong as ever, and weighs about 100 grams more than the Butted version.

Butted Aluminum / Black or Silver

The Butted Aluminum Loop H-Bar is the lighter version of our Aluminum Loop H-Bar, built with custom-butted aluminum tubing to reduce weight while maintaining the same strength and increasing compliance and ride quality. By varying the wall thickness throughout the bar, we’ve optimized it for comfort, durability, and control without excess material.

Jones H-Bar FAQ:

Q: Should I get the standard (0.5 inch rise) H-bar or the 2.5 (riser) H-Bar?

A: We recommend your H-Bar to be level or a little bit higher than your saddle.

As an example, If your bike currently has a traditional flat bar that is lower than your saddle, we would recommend the 2.5. If your saddle and current handlebar are about even, we would recommend the standard .5 H-Bar.

Think of the 2.5 as an alternative to a 2-inch stack of headset spacers combined with a standard H-Bar, which has 0.5 inches of rise.

If you are looking to get your H-Bars as high up for ultimate comfort, we would recommend the 2.5 H-Bar.

Note: The 2.5 variation of the Jones H-Bar is available in SG or Butted Aluminum.

Q: What width H-Bar should I get (660mm or 710mm)?

A:  We've recently discontinued the 660mm H-Bar, though it's still available while supplies last on our close-out sale. Nine times out of ten, we recommend the 710mm, since it offers an extra, more upright hand position at the rear of the bar.

An important thing to keep in mind is that the difference in width comes exclusively from extra long grip-sections, which means that every other aspect of the bars is the same from one width to the other. This means the shifter and brake lever positions are the same between the different widths.

One reason you may want the 660mm is if you are riding in very tight technical single track and have to worry about catching your H-Bar on trees, or if you are riding in tight city traffic and have to worry about catching your H-Bar on car mirrors or other objects. If you still aren't sure, go with the 710mm because the 710mm has cut marks so if you feel the need to cut the bar down to 660mm, you can.

Q: What's the difference between the SG and Butted Aluminum H-Bar?

A: Straight gauge (SG) refers to the tubing having the same wall thickness throughout its length. Straight gauge tubing is heavier than butted tubing, and the manufacturing process is simpler and therefore less expensive.

Butted tubing has varying wall thicknesses with more material for more strength where needed and thinner / lighter in sections where you don’t, giving you a lighter bar with a bit more flex for comfort than a straight gauge tubing (SG) version of the Jones Loop H-Bar. Making butted tubing is more complex and therefore more expensive.

In short: The SG H-Bar is about 100g heavier than the Butted version but at a lower cost. The Butted H-Bar is about 100g lighter than the SG version but at a higher cost.

Q: What grips should I use?

A: Using the correct grips is crucial to getting the most out of the H-Bar. The H-Bar has a longer grip area compared to “normal” handlebars which allows more hand positions for more comfort. Using shorter standard grips will leave you stuck in one position.

We offer two grip materials: Kraton rubber and EVA foam. The Kraton H-Grips are offered in a variety of colors. The EVA H-Grips are black. The Kraton H-Grips are durable and have a deep H-Bar patterning that gives you a solid grip. The Eva H-Grips are firmer compared to the Kraton H-Grips but are just over 220g (7.75oz)  lighter.

Expanding bar plugs are included with the grips.

See the Jones Kraton H-Grips HERE.

Q: What bar tape should I use?

A: The Jones H-Bar tape is sized to fit perfectly on the crossbar of the Loop H-Bar, or the front loop of the Loop H-Bar.  If you want to wrap both the crossbar and the loop, you'll need two packages.

See the Jones H-Bar tape HERE.

Q: What bag should I use with the Loop H-Bar?

A: The Jones H-Bar Pack is designed specifically for the Loop H-Bar. The low profile design of the pack keeps it from interfering with the wide range of hand positions available on the H-Bars, and it even has a small cutout at each end to allow room for your thumbs next to the pack. The H-Bar Pack is TPU-coated nylon fabric and has a waterproof, welded construction with a water-resistant zipper for great water resistance. The zipper is easy to use so you can easily access whatever you have stashed away in the H-Bar pack! The H-Bar pack will fit both the standard .5 H-Bar and 2.5 H-Bar, though it will fit a little less tightly on the 2.5 H-Bar.

Using an under-the-handlebar roll-style bag works well in combination with the H-Bar Pack, but depending on how it is set up, it may limit the usable space in the H-Bar Pack.

We do not recommend using the Jones H-Bar Pack with the Bend H-Bar.

See the Jones H-Bar Pack HERE.

Q: What controls (Brake lever & Shifters) are compatible with the Jones H-Bar?

A: Most standard 22.2mm  MTB/flat bar controls work well with the H-Bar, including above-the-bar hinged thumb shifters.

Rohloff / Pinion / Grip shifters will work well with the H-Bar, but since the grip shifter is going to take up more space on the bar compared to a trigger shifter, you may need to trim down the grips.

Road shifters / Brake levers will not work on Jones H-Bars. The tube diameter of the handlebars is different. Jones H-Bars have a 22.2 mm diameter, so road shifters will not fit.  Drop bar shifters are also made to be installed on the bend of the bar, they won't fit right on flat bars.

The Jones H-Bar is not designed or intended to be used with bar end shifters. Doing so could be dangerous.

Q: Is the Jones H-Bar good for bikepacking and touring?

A: Yes! The Jones H-Bar is a top choice of many for bikepacking and touring, offering superior comfort, control, and multiple hand positions to reduce fatigue on long rides. Whether you're tackling rugged trails or smooth roads, the H-Bar helps you ride longer, stay comfortable, and explore more.
